A unusual 61 cm diameter terrestrial library relief shipping globe, made up of two sets of twelve chromolithographed "raised" gores and two polar calottes. The equatorial, prime meridian and equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the oceans showing steamship routes. The cartouche in the Pacific Ocean with a picture of a steamship above and a shield of crossed key and anchor beneath. The continents in relief and with nation states shaded in yellow, green and orange and showing mountains, rivers, towns and cities. Leningrad with additional labelling (St Petersbourg). With stamped brass meridian half circle, mounted on an unusual and elegant mahogany tripod stand, with three inswept legs to triangular plinth base, each side with two painted flags and NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD BREMEN.

The globe has several damages. Some areas the raised gores are missing (eg large part of Africa and Asia) to reveal the normal chromolitographed gores beneath with full cartography (see picture).The globe has also a crack at the meridian (see picture).
