A very early Reploge Globe with a World Clock Base, 1935 A very early Reploge Globe with a World Clock Base. The clock is in working condition! It identifies time around the world in the addition to the USA. For example, the following areas in different time zones are listed: Guam, Samoa Islands, Bombay, Omsk, Jerusalem, Kopenhagen and so on. When reviewing the countries on this Globe, please keep in mind that Replogle was not known to be accurate with the timelines and political borders. As a matter of fact, especially during WWII Replogle did not change borders of their mapping because of constant changes. Based on the display of the countries we estimate this Globe to be from approx. 1935. Description: The Globe itself is has a 25cm diameter and is made of cardboard, covered with Gores of Paper. The base, clock and base are made of metal with an aluminum ring identifying time lines and cities. The meridian is made of cast iron. The legend displays railroads, steamship asnd caravan routes in addition to Radio Broadcast Stations. Condition: The Globe shows typical wear for its age. Light soiling has occurred in some areas, the equator shows wear as well. Details are crisp though and colors are vivid. As mentioned before, the clock is in working condition! Some of the finish has worn off on the meridian. A crack on the meridian has been repaired. Please see pictures for details. SOLD |
