very rare antique, semi terrestrial pocket globe, is made up of twelve copper-plate, engraved paper gores
which are hand coloured. The equator is graduated in degrees
and hours. The
ecliptic graduated in days and showing the symbols of the houses of the zodiac.
The Antarctic is labelled 'supposed antarctic continent', the continents
outlined in colour with numerous physical and geographical details. The
two parts of the globe are attached with a cupper hinge and a small
hook. The globe can be opened and laid in the beautiful box for
studying. The box itself has felt lined and two cupper curves. SOLD |
